Panda-monium on the Finish Line: Sync or Swim Takes Silver in Comox

Sync or Swim had an successful end to the 2024 dragon boat season at the Comox Dragon Boat Festival on September 14. Competing in the Women’s A final, we proudly paddled our way to a silver medal. Check out the final race here. It was a day filled with excitement as we won our first two races and narrowly missed the gold by less than a second to VI Paddling’s Pandas in the final race. Although the weather forecast threatened rain, the skies were kind enough to hold off for most of the day, making for (mostly) great race conditions.

Our race times were solid:

  • Race 1: 00:57:92

  • Race 2: 01:01:57

  • Race 3: 01:00:51 (with the Pandas clocking in at 00:59:58)

We couldn’t have made it through the season without our incredible Coach Lesley, who continues to inspire us with her strength and guidance, and our Steer Vince, who expertly navigates us and keeps us on the straight and narrow.

As we reflect on an amazing season, we also say farewell to some of our beloved teammates: Jenna, Shannon, and Izzy, who are leaving Sync or Swim to pursue opportunities with the National Team. We’re incredibly proud of their accomplishments and will miss them dearly in the boat, but we know they will make waves wherever they go.

This wraps up our 2024 season, and while we’re sad to see it end, we’re already looking forward to what the future holds for Sync or Swim.

Until next season—keep paddling strong!
