About the Team: Our team was formed in the Spring of 2010. Our goal is to promote health and friendship through physical activity.
We call ourselves “fun-petitive,” meaning we are a recreational team that also enjoys racing. Traditionally we enter two races a year and include some race training during regular practices to prepare for them. Dryland training isn’t required or expected.
We paddle in the evenings to accommodate working hours. Our practices focus on improving technique, endurance and strength. We also participate in several fun events each year such as full moon paddles, team beach parties, and picnics at Bute Island.
Because of the friendships built over the years and to stay connected in the off season, we also participate in off-the-water activities such as ukulele playing, car rally, pickleball and book clubs.
Our team has volunteered for many local events including Dine on the Dock, Pirate Festival, Maritime Festival, and the Ladysmith Light-up Parade.
